I have a few things to update on today =)

Oh I just finished the best meal I've had since I arrived and it was oh sooooo good! I'm so full and happy right now! It was a mexican meal so at least i know i'm going to the right country.

yesterday Tere asked me to lead a little yoga class. automatically i said yes because that's how i am, but on the walk from the classroom to outside i started to get nervous. the only person i ever lead in yoga was karen & she laughed the majority of the time (it doesn't really count). i just took deep breaths and i did it. it actually was great. once we started i was able to integrate some favorite posses of the people in the class it was great towards the end when marcelle (who is rather soft spoken, but i love her) lead a few poses as well. i was actually happy with myself. namaste

i love our group. everyone is similar that we all have this interest to do missionary work, but we are all very unique and different at the same time. it's so refreshing and i love everyone for different reasons. it's sad that we're going to say goodbye in 3 weeks. Our bios aren't up quite yet (on the website), but we're looking over them. My picture is from my LUNAFEST (in Jan.) Andrea looked at me and said, "Lisa, you have dark hair?" I was like only in the summer does it get lighter. It'll be like that again. Someone said not for the next 2 years =)

last night at dinner Meg asked me if i remembered her from DePaul. I found out about IWM at a post-graduate volunteer fair at DePaul. I originally went because i wanted to talk with a different organization and they were talking with someone when i got there so i randomly talked to meg. i got a GREAT feeling from her. Then i headed over to the organization i originally wanted to see and didn't get the same 'this is right' feeling. i applied to IWM and not the other one. Meg said she puts stars next to students she really wants for IWM and i was so excited when she told me she gave me a star!!!! I don't think i've stood out like that before in my life. it just felt right.
most other missionaries here found the organization on some website. they all said it was GREAT!
the sisters like the organization small and they don't really want it to get big like some other organizations.

today we worked on enneagrams for around 3 hours. if i gave a theme to today i would say it was self-discovery day. enneagrams were very interesting because it's not like the myers-briggs (which we did yesterday... ENFP). with enneagrams you read through each number and by knowing yourself and through complete honesty you pick your own number, there's no test. i couldn't decide which number i was (between a couple) and i was discussing with the group and after knowing me 2 days they almost immediately told me i was a 7 (which is one of the numbers i was deciding between). Am i that much of an open book?

today a sister taught me some tai chi =)

i have more to share, but i need to head out so there's a little update for now...

LOVE

p.s. if you sent me an email and i haven't had a chance to reply i'm sorry and i will VERY soon. we've just been busy. in a different way than usual... busy in a relationship way.

Fall Photos

After admiring the leaves on our runs and my bike to work, we recruited my parents to take some photos of us there this weekend.   After these photos (and tackling some IT issues for my parents) we went to a birthday gathering at the jazz festival on Cherokee Street.  I liked it more than I thought I would. As the night wore on, I started chatting with one of the friend of a friend's there.  I started going in to what a crazy year and some change it's been and, whew, it really started to overwhelm me.   This morning, Mike woke up overwhelmed by our world/specifically our country.  I woke up with that conversation still in my head and also felt overwhelmed.  We treated ourselves to Sump Coffee and had a chat.  It's not always we sit down and talk about what we want and steps to get there. Fall feels like the perfect time to reset.  As we went through the day I also thought, it's okay to miss things in the past, but it woul...

Concerts = ♡

Last week was an exceptional concert week for me.  I was lucky enough to catch San Fermin, The Mowgli's, & American Authors.  In one week! My sister, Karen, and I found out San Fermin would be in Chicago at LouFest when we went through the artist signing line.  (Correction: Karen participated in the artist signing line, while I hid behind her shoulder and Ellis, the composer/writer, reached out to me to introduce himself.  This band is full of quality people.  Just sayin'.  I get awkward around bands.)   So we followed through.  Found their show at the Metro (which could not be more convenient for us) and met up with Rubina, my friend, to enjoy their show.  So good.  We were not disappointed.  I was only minutely disappointed because for some reason I assumed they were headlining so when they didn't come out for an encore I was confused.  But then I realized they were the middle act and it made sense. ...

Kitchen Safety

We moved!  We're in our new place and we just got wifi.  Wahoo! I definitely broke in the kitchen quickly.  I was making a panini type sandwich for a potluck get together so I preheated the oven.  The next thing I knew the fire alarm was going off.  Let me tell you they did not skimp on a very loud fire alarm.  Ahhhhhhhh I opened the oven, which I know you're not supposed to do.  In the moment, I think I needed to see what I was dealing with.  There were definite flames.  Ahhhhhhhh So I called Mike while trying to google what to do.  He was super calm the entire call while I freaked out (it probably helped that he couldn't see the smoke billowing out of the oven).   He said to throw baking soda on it.  I did.  It seemed to fizzle but came back. I searched the apartment for a fire extinguisher (maybe I should have looked for one before this moment). This is while I kept trying to silence the fire ...
