if there was a reggaeton bar or something in chicago i would definitely give it a try. a type of music that caught on for me from mexico.
this is one of my fav reggaeton songs
but i won't be hitting up any clubs tonight with an astro overnight at work. i get to go in late, but i also work until like 10 or 10:30. i really enjoy astro overnights i just wish they didn't involve me needing to work until 10. having to work saturdays is already rough enough on my social life. but i do love the time with the kiddos. so yes. it's worth it.
so in honor of friday and reflecting on the week (while you listen to some reggaeton music) i wanted to share more about park voyagers.
while this program is exhausting and challenging. it keeps me on my toes. and i love the kids. even though we only get to spend 3 days with each group it's so much fun.
our schedule started out with a park that was basically in the burbs then we moved a little closer and now we are at inner city parks. it's quite a difference. i still love them, but it's different.
we have some team work problems. i have to sit down with the kids when they look at the partner i just assigned them with disgust and explain sometimes in life you have to work with people you don't like. by the end of the session they usually get along well, but sometimes it takes a lot of intervening from liz and i.
and whew all sorts of drama. back to the point of keeping me on my toes.
there are all sorts of fun stories though. one girl called me over to her group just to make sure i could tell they made a girl rocket. it had hearts all over it. i said yes. most the boys didn't bother to decorate theirs at all.
one girl asked me to stand up and flip my hair. i politely declined.
liz and i go by liz and lisa at the parks. this week a girl asked me my last name so i told her and she started calling me ms. rottler. i said no, just call me lisa. she asked why so i explained i didn't want to feel old. she just looked at me and called me ms. lisa the rest of the week.
not only those reasons, but i'm putting in some long hours. i call karen when i get home. when she finds out i just got home she always says, "they're going to work you to the bone." or something of that sort.
now i shall leave you with a few photos so far
i'm going to watch sleepless in Seattle since it came in at the library for me. it's one of those movies everyone's seen, but me. so i'm going to change that.
