yesterday i picked my training schedule for this season. i decided to try a different one this time around (even though i don't have any complaints about the last one i used). i did some internet searching and found a free one that i like.
most trainings are not free. there are some great group training groups i've heard of in chicago. and that sounds like a great option, but they're quite expensive in my opinion. from what i understand they have a group run every week where everyone comes together. personally, i enjoy the freedom to make my runs fit around my schedule. although, i think that's great for encouragement and fraternity. i see benefits and negatives.
i was surprised to see many of the schedules online cost money. literally just to print out the schedule and the rest is up to you. i definitely didn't do that.
so i found my free schedule.
then i realized i'm running too far already. i don't like to think i'll be scaling back, but i know i need to trust the schedule (it's built like that for a reason) and listen to my aching knees (i am older this time around). so today i tried to scale back a little. not as much as the schedule wanted me to, but i didn't go as far as i was planning to. so i gave a little... just not the whole way.
one thing that's been super helpful is some new gear. mom bought me a few things from lululemon a couple weekends ago and i've basically worn my new shorts and sports bra from there everyday. i get chafing in my armpits and from my sports bra all the time and i used to get it on my legs too (before my discovery of lululemon). now with my new sports bra i don't get chafing and it's soooo nice. i know it's expensive, but do i think it's worth it for the quality and comfort... i might have to say yes.
right now i feel SO excited for the marathon. let's just hope i can keep that excitement for the next 16 weeks. my goal: beat my best time (3.54) ... we'll see about that.
p.s. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY, DADO!!!! (more to come on that later...)
