Karen's birthday, of course.
Karen loves her birthday. It's one of those things that is distinctly her. I'm not sure I know anyone who likes their birthday as much as her. It's always fun to see what schedule she comes up with.
This might be a bit of a long one so here's a song for your enjoyment...
First of all some photos from the week before.
I left Chicago Sunday went to Cleveland and straight to St. Louis for last weekend. I had to pack for lots of weather and different outfits: suits for work, long sleeves & pants for after work in Cleveland (it was chilly), shorts & tshirts and dresses for St. Louis. Let's just say my bag was stuffed. I also had to fit Karen's birthday pressent
I got to St. Louis Thursday night and had fun with Karen's friends at dinner before Karen & I headed to one of her favorite bars.
That Karen sure is funny though. She puts so much thought and time into planning her birthday celebrations. She sends out an email to her friends with the schedule. Thursday night I was talking to Jeff about the plans and we weren't sure what they were for Thursday night or Friday. (We decided Friday's activities started somewhere between 4-7) I texted Karen and she said, "Please reference your email." Can you tell who's the planner? Then I asked her about Friday and she listed all the times for everything going on for my Grandpa's induction thing, which Jeff and I had no idea.
The way I see it, if we were all planners like her, we'd have lots of problems so I think it makes perfect sense we just rely on her. Thanks Karen! What would we do without you?
We also went to the Crown Brewery. I had some delicious Peach beer.
Saturday night was Karen's family birthday dinner.
While I was in Missouri, I went on some lovely runs with quite different terrain and routes than what I'm used to. Although, it was really nice to get back to the usual today for my 10 mile run.
I attended my grandpa's induction ceremony to the Hall of Fame at my high school
I got to spend some time with my friend from Middle School. We were at the football game Friday and she told me how she was cleaning out her room at her mom's house and found a poster I made for her 12th birthday full of pictures. We're so old!
Saturday she came over and we jumped into a painting project (for her birthday next week) and I took her picture when she said, "we have to take one together. I don't think we've taken a picture together since my wedding." which was 3 years ago. We both laughed because through middle school and high school we have a picture together from almost every weekend. As she said, "We were picture taking fiends."
Mom, Dad, Jeff, Greta, Charlie, & I had a super cute brunch at Missy's Lil' Kettle. It was so reasonable! $4.95 for an omelet, folks. The lady even brought out a baby pancake for Charlie & no one even asked for it.
I went through my stuff at my parents & it made me a little sad (growing up is hard to do) and also gave me a second to think back on some fun times ;)
The latest Charlie photos...
Earrings and a purse. Karen & I have very different tastes when it comes to clothing, accessories, etc. I liked the purse & thought she might as well and she was looking for a purse, but I was still nervous. So I decided I would give it to her with the question of whether she liked it or not. If not, I would return it and I had a back-up present for her, just in case.
Would you ever do that? Do you think that's weird or rude?
Pretty sure I'm only comfortable enough with my sister to ever do that. I just didn't want to waste it. I'm not a waster. Of anything.
She did decide to keep the purse.

HAPPY 28TH BIRTHDAY, KAREN! |
this is where I ran Friday morning |

These glasses may be rad now, but I had a pair 10 years ago (I brought them back to Chicago with me so I can continue to wear them ;)) | Fun photo. Looks like an outing to Six Flags where Karen & I and our friends were so happy and Jeff wouldn't even look at the camera. Didn't want to be seen with us, eh? Pretty sure he left us as soon as we got in the gate and didn't see him again until Mom came to pick us up | Yes, I had a lava lamp and I still can't seem to part with it

he's such a big boy now! |
You think we dote too much on Charlie? No way! Yes, you can see my parents sitting around watching him and I was right there with them... um.. he's just so entertaining ;)
Charlie didn't really want to pose with me for those photos... and he's a clapper!!!!
