Frozen Treat time!!!

If you were at a store and there was ice cream, frozen yogurt, popsicles, custard, soft serve, gelato, etc., what would you pick?

I would definitely pick either the frozen yogurt or a popsicle.

Pretty sure usually I would say frozen yogurt, with all the frozen yogurt places popping up all over the city (and especially in Lakeview), it's hard not to love.  Although lately (as in a few days) I've been wanting a popsicle and exploring making them from home.

With the weather warming up, who wouldn't go for some sort-of frozen treat?

As I mentioned, frozen yogurt seems to be everywhere right now.  I'm not going to complain becuase I love it and apparently Chicagoans agree with me.

Last summer I made it a point to branch out and try as many different frozen yogurt places as possible.  But I'm pretty sure I've found my favorite so now I usually just go to that one. (to be revealed at the end)

This week I went to Pinkberry with a friend.  (I'm never against trying something new.)  After we checked out we looked at each other and she said, "That was some expensive frozen yogurt."  which is exactly what I was thinking.  The lady working there was super nice to us, but overall I enjoy my experience at my favorite, where I can mix flavors and make it how I want (for cheaper).
I know Pinkberry is famous because of celebrities so I can now say I tried it and that's good enough for me.

So after trying so many frozen yogurt places... my favorite is Forever Yogurt.  People are friendly, it's easy, you can mix and match as you please, and it's delicious.

What are you up to this weekend?

I'm excited to visit the Green City market (where I haven't been in about 5 years) with a friend, celebrate a friend's bday, and go to some friends' bbq.  Looks like a pretty great weekend to me.  (And I'm going to try to squeeze a few other things, like the Randolph Street Market, in too.)

I hope you get out to enjoy this lovely weather this weekend and maybe have one of your favorite frozen treats!

museum field trip

i've been doing really well on my field trip resolution . yesterday i hit up another one:  the chicago history museum .  it turns out it was a free day there, even though i was going to get in free anyway.  that means it was busy! which is fine, i still got to take a gander around.   I've never been to the history museum before so that in itself was exciting. probably my favorite part was when they talked about the world's fair in chicago (i can't remember the exact name).  the buildings were so much grander than i imagined them in my mind while i read, devil in the white city a couple months ago.  it was fun to see what it was really like.  and wow! there was also an awesome exhibit about workers rights and such. so it was a fun little excursion.

thanksgiving time

( via ) Yes, I like Santa.  But why is everyone so anxious to start with Christmas?  Why can't we appreciate Thanksgiving first? don't get me wrong, i'm excited to watch Love Actually again (when it's in-season.  i actually watch it all year long). everyone kept talking about christmas being everywhere this month, but i really only encountered it when i walked around the mall with Greta (my sister-in-law) on Monday.  it was all over the mall.  it could have been december. look what Nordstrom is doing i'm actually really excited for thanksgiving this year... (details to follow) but as far as today goes... I have to share this with you because I think it's funny ( via ) actually... at 11:11 I was running around looking for a book called The Moon Seems to Change
