WOW!

Things that made me happy today...

I believe every day has something good that happens.  Today was a pretty good day, but there are some days that are not.  It's finding those happy things and realizing them.  Sort-of like how some people keep thankful journals where they write down 3 things good that happened in their day every night.  I have done this at times in the past.

There were a few things that made me especially happy today:

*A couple of my friends gave me a fun new beer to try because...

That's sort-of a joke... sort-of.  I always complain that I don't want to be an adult ;)
Karen was in on it too when she wrote on my facebook wall with a similar statement.  Yeah, maybe I say that too much?

*I parallel parked my car on the first try!  This came after a very frustrating parking time Saturday evening.  Where there were two different spots that my car would fit into, but I didn't have the skills to get it in.  Very frustrating.  Then I watched videos on youtube and discussed with one of my parallel parking pro friends.  And I did it!
I mean what's the point in having a compact car if I can't parallel park it?

*The Cardinals game!
Coming off the All Star break the Cardinals had a rough start, to say it lightly.  It was a bit frustrating.  And then last night happened...
This video gave me goosebumps!

Lynn had a great night pitching.  Then the 9th, 2 outs, 2 strikes, Holliday RBI.  2-2.  Craig RBI 3-2.  Bam.  They held them in the bottom of the 9th and we win!!!!

Fall Fun!

We could not have asked for better fall weather this weekend.  70 degrees.  Sunny.  We just wanted to be outside the entire time.   We went for runs and decided we needed to spend even more time appreciating the fall foliage, which apparently will peak in two weeks.  So two more weeks to enjoy!  We checked out a new to us restaurant.   Then we took a trip to Grant's Farm, which neither one of us had been to since we were kids.  And neither one of us remembered.  Capping off another day spent outside. Monday I hopped on my bike to get to work and my body felt tired from the fun of the weekend.  I looked out my window at my desk and saw so many beautiful leaves, I took a photo on the walk back to where I park my bike. P.S. Yes, I got a new job!  Hooray!  A more detailed update is coming.

26 miles in 26 days

So the title isn`t exactly correct, but I ran a marathon yesterday and it was Melissa & my`s one month being here. But Caro helped me come up with the title and I thought it was catchy. So marathon #2 and a completely different experience than the one I ran last year in Chicago. Lisa Rottler Chamberlin is the name I ran the race with...I tried to sign up as Lisa Rottler, but it forced me to enter mom`s maiden name or i couldn`t continue with registration. the first difference I experienced this marathon in a very different way. In Chicago I was competitive I would say. It was on my mind since February of last year when I signed up. I was didigent about training and very serious about it. This year I signed up like 3 weeks ago and it was very last minute. Although, I ran like I was training for the marathon this summer in Chicago-that was 2 months ago. Last year the weekend of the marathon I rested. This year Friday night I went to my first quinceanera and got home at 4 a...

Fall Photos

After admiring the leaves on our runs and my bike to work, we recruited my parents to take some photos of us there this weekend.   After these photos (and tackling some IT issues for my parents) we went to a birthday gathering at the jazz festival on Cherokee Street.  I liked it more than I thought I would. As the night wore on, I started chatting with one of the friend of a friend's there.  I started going in to what a crazy year and some change it's been and, whew, it really started to overwhelm me.   This morning, Mike woke up overwhelmed by our world/specifically our country.  I woke up with that conversation still in my head and also felt overwhelmed.  We treated ourselves to Sump Coffee and had a chat.  It's not always we sit down and talk about what we want and steps to get there. Fall feels like the perfect time to reset.  As we went through the day I also thought, it's okay to miss things in the past, but it woul...
