"private moments"

What do you do when you see someone having a "private moment" (I'm not sure that's the best word choice, but I'm going to go with it) in public?
Whether it's a hello or goodbye. There is almost always love shown. It's like in Love Actually at the beginning when it's talking about airports "Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport...seems to me love is everywhere...love is all around"
Sometimes there are tears. Sometimes just lots of hugs and smiles.
Sometimes it's parents saying goodbye to their kid as they go on the bus for the day...maybe someone saying goodbye for a weekend...a week...a month... etc.
I've had a lot of these lately. A fun one...Sarah drove me home from our dinner and she veered to the side of Bissell to let me out. We're saying our "stay-in-touch"es when a car comes up behind her and decides to make sure we know they're there HONK HONK. Fine. Don't you know we're having an important moment... guess not. =)
It's hard to believe my own big "private-public moment" in public is approaching so quickly: my goodbye at the airport as I leave for San Antonio, TX (for training) next Sunday.

I usually stare & soak up a little love while I watch and smile.

A Sweater

Six years ago my maternal grandmother passed away and I kept a few of her clothes, coffee maker (still in use)*, and some of her glasses to help me think of her.

And boy was I excited when I saw one of her sweaters styled in a new way as part of Sezane's fall collection!
Mario Jumper
I immediately pulled it out and wore it again!  The only issue with this styling is it is missing a couple buttons.  The first time I buttoned it this year I thought it wouldn't be a problem at all.  Then I started googling and realized those buttons aren't made anymore.  (And they're hard to find.)  The only ones I could find in the States were "collectors items".  I ended up finding some for sale in the UK and they were the only ones I could find.  I now know more about these buttons than I ever thought I would.

Mike: How old is this sweater?
Me: Probably 50 years.

As I relayed this story to my sister she added:
Karen: At least.

So stay tuned on the buttons, but they are ordered…

Fall Photos

After admiring the leaves on our runs and my bike to work, we recruited my parents to take some photos of us there this weekend.

After these photos (and tackling some IT issues for my parents) we went to a birthday gathering at the jazz festival on Cherokee Street.  I liked it more than I thought I would.

As the night wore on, I started chatting with one of the friend of a friend's there.  I started going in to what a crazy year and some change it's been and, whew, it really started to overwhelm me.

This morning, Mike woke up overwhelmed by our world/specifically our country.  I woke up with that conversation still in my head and also felt overwhelmed.  We treated ourselves to Sump Coffee and had a chat.  It's not always we sit down and talk about what we want and steps to get there.

Fall feels like the perfect time to reset.  As we went through the day I also thought, it's okay to miss things in the past, but it wouldn't be the same to put myself back in that plac…

A Check-In

Hey Friends!  I'm still here!

I've been meaning to write an update for quite some time, I just haven't set aside the time.  It's been a bit of a rough summer over here.  I was laid off from my job at the end of June.  Since I was the primary bread winner in our family things have been pretty stressful while I look for a new one.  Hence, I've been job hunting 7 days a week.

If I've learned anything it's that there are lows and highs.  Last week I got a call for an interview at a highly desirable organization and an email for a second round somewhere else.  That was a high.  (My mouth fell open when I got the voicemail for an interview at the desirable organization.)  Then I had the interview this week, found out their typical job interview process takes 2 months and I still haven't heard anything further about the second round interview.  So yesterday was a low.

Note: most weeks if I had 2 interviews it's a real win!  I think my feeling down this week w…
