New Day

I know many people to do not appreciate daylight savings time.  Are we in that now?  Whatever, turning their clocks back and waking up to dark skies.  

 I'm not the biggest fan either, but this morning on my walk back from the gym I saw the sun rising over the lake the entire last block and it was pretty awesome and what I needed for a new day.
I came in and got my camera just for you, for this picture.  (Yes, it was more awesome in real life.)

 It makes me excited for the future.  What are you looking forward to?
I'm looking forward to:
*Karen's visit for St. Patty's day and hitting up the festivities with friends
*Easter (including a trip to Missouri)
and then BAM it's April.  Hopefully we'll have at least normal temps by then since we've been below average for a couple weeks.  burrrrrr...

 Who's ready for the weekend?  Besides me.

museum field trip

i've been doing really well on my field trip resolution . yesterday i hit up another one:  the chicago history museum .  it turns out it was a free day there, even though i was going to get in free anyway.  that means it was busy! which is fine, i still got to take a gander around.   I've never been to the history museum before so that in itself was exciting. probably my favorite part was when they talked about the world's fair in chicago (i can't remember the exact name).  the buildings were so much grander than i imagined them in my mind while i read, devil in the white city a couple months ago.  it was fun to see what it was really like.  and wow! there was also an awesome exhibit about workers rights and such. so it was a fun little excursion.

26 miles in 26 days

So the title isn`t exactly correct, but I ran a marathon yesterday and it was Melissa & my`s one month being here. But Caro helped me come up with the title and I thought it was catchy. So marathon #2 and a completely different experience than the one I ran last year in Chicago. Lisa Rottler Chamberlin is the name I ran the race with...I tried to sign up as Lisa Rottler, but it forced me to enter mom`s maiden name or i couldn`t continue with registration. the first difference I experienced this marathon in a very different way. In Chicago I was competitive I would say. It was on my mind since February of last year when I signed up. I was didigent about training and very serious about it. This year I signed up like 3 weeks ago and it was very last minute. Although, I ran like I was training for the marathon this summer in Chicago-that was 2 months ago. thanksgiving time

( via ) Yes, I like Santa.  But why is everyone so anxious to start with Christmas?  Why can't we appreciate Thanksgiving first? don't get me wrong, i'm excited to watch Love Actually again (when it's in-season.  i actually watch it all year long). everyone kept talking about christmas being everywhere this month, but i really only encountered it when i walked around the mall with Greta (my sister-in-law) on Monday.  it was all over the mall.  it could have been december. look what Nordstrom is doing i'm actually really excited for thanksgiving this year... (details to follow) but as far as today goes... I have to share this with you because I think it's funny ( via ) actually... at 11:11 I was running around looking for a book called The Moon Seems to Change
