chicago chef week

i was late.
not super late, but still late.
i really don't know what's going on with me.  i'm really good about being on time for work.  i'm actually always the first AE there, which let's me get settled before everyone comes in.  but anyway i did get there.

emily and i went to blackbird.  it was super nice and super fun.  it was the three courses for $33.  when i go out to eat i usually don't get an appetizer, let alone a dessert.  so not only was that a splurge, but this was like fine dining.  emily and i just kept laughing about it.  it was fun to go somewhere we never could afford normally.
i think my favorite dish was the appetizer.  it was some sort-of noodle, but there were so many different flavors going on.  it was wonderful!
then we walked back in the chilly weather, which was probably one of my favorite parts of the night, even though my stomach was hurting for some reason.  we just talked super loud and we were downtown so there were very few people around (at 8:30) so it was just nice.
i've just been having some spectacular days lately.  i don't want to jinx it or anything.  i'm knocking on wood right now...or i think it's wood.

i was hanging out at the gym this morning watching my weekly news (still haven't gotten my tv working yet, but i'm finally working on it) when i glanced over at a different screen while mine was on commercial.  and this video catches my eye.  so i switch through the channels to find it because it looks fun.

then i find out it's by hanson.  only by their name at the end, i didn't even recognize them.  i had no idea they are still singing.
i mean i think i was a little too young while hanson was so popular, but i tried to like them because karen did and older people were cool when you're that little.  so karen would listen.  jeff would sigh annoyed.  i would try to like it and pretend i knew what was going on.

museum field trip

i've been doing really well on my field trip resolution . yesterday i hit up another one:  the chicago history museum .  it turns out it was a free day there, even though i was going to get in free anyway.  that means it was busy! which is fine, i still got to take a gander around.   I've never been to the history museum before so that in itself was exciting. probably my favorite part was when they talked about the world's fair in chicago (i can't remember the exact name).  the buildings were so much grander than i imagined them in my mind while i read, devil in the white city a couple months ago.  it was fun to see what it was really like.  and wow! there was also an awesome exhibit about workers rights and such. so it was a fun little excursion.

26 miles in 26 days

So the title isn`t exactly correct, but I ran a marathon yesterday and it was Melissa & my`s one month being here. But Caro helped me come up with the title and I thought it was catchy. So marathon #2 and a completely different experience than the one I ran last year in Chicago. Lisa Rottler Chamberlin is the name I ran the race with...I tried to sign up as Lisa Rottler, but it forced me to enter mom`s maiden name or i couldn`t continue with registration. the first difference I experienced this marathon in a very different way. In Chicago I was competitive I would say. It was on my mind since February of last year when I signed up. I was didigent about training and very serious about it. This year I signed up like 3 weeks ago and it was very last minute. Although, I ran like I was training for the marathon this summer in Chicago-that was 2 months ago. Last year the weekend of the marathon I rested. This year Friday night I went to my first quinceanera and got home at 4 a...

thanksgiving time

( via ) Yes, I like Santa.  But why is everyone so anxious to start with Christmas?  Why can't we appreciate Thanksgiving first? don't get me wrong, i'm excited to watch Love Actually again (when it's in-season.  i actually watch it all year long). everyone kept talking about christmas being everywhere this month, but i really only encountered it when i walked around the mall with Greta (my sister-in-law) on Monday.  it was all over the mall.  it could have been december. look what Nordstrom is doing i'm actually really excited for thanksgiving this year... (details to follow) but as far as today goes... I have to share this with you because I think it's funny ( via ) actually... at 11:11 I was running around looking for a book called The Moon Seems to Change
