nice pens can make the day so much easier

last night was our first park voyagers family workshop.  i wasn't super de duper excited about it, mainly because it was a night event, but over 80 people showed up and both my favorite families from that park came (and i got to meet their entire families) so i was feeling positive before it started.
it was fun, of course.  ethan, one of my favs, started chit chatting with me at the end like he just saw me (even though i'd been talking in front of the entire group all evening) and i was like, 'awww he wants some one on one time.'  yea!
then so many of the parents came up at the end to thank me and say how much fun their kids had during the program.  it was just super nice.  i can't wait to work with the same families this saturday at their field trip and next wednesday night as well.
heidi, my co-worker, gave me a ride to the bus downtown, which was super nice of her in the snowy, flurryish weather.  i got on the bus and let out a big sigh i was just completely shot.  and i remembered i had to run to jewel.  and i thought 'how can i put it off,' but i just couldn't.  1 i really needed to mail something (stamps), 2 there's a baby shower at work today and i don't love this lady (maybe that's because i've only known her pregnant, she's due any day), but it didn't seem like anyone was bringing anything so i decided to bring pretzels.  i know.  a real strain.  (that's sarcastic) but i got a good kind, the honey wheat twist things.  and 3 i needed onions.  i know that's a weird one, but i cook with onions a lot and i was out.
so i forced myself there.
at least on the way back i talked to karen and she made me forget how cold and tired i was during my walk home.

but this morning there was a beautiful sunrise and i was ready for another day!

i packed my heels today (i never wear them outside in winter.  i put on gross boots to get me to work and then change), which means i mean business.

then i was texting karen on my way to work and somehow she managed to talk about three completely unrelated topics in ONE text message.  i can barely express myself on one topic.  i can't condense my thoughts well.  i tend to blabber.  texting is not a talent of mine, but i laughed (out loud) as i was amazed at hers.

yesterday elena and i wondered where our pens disappeared to and today we were cleaning up a shelf in planet explorers we found AWESOME ones.  we keep commenting on how wonderful they are.  we even decided to give liz one as a welcome back gift (she's on vacay this week).
then i was returning something to a supply closet (which is a hot mess, of course) and found glow in the dark crayons!  (pause for dramatic effect)  i'm not making this up!  i had no idea these even existed!!!  i can't wait for a slow day when i can try these out and decorate my room with them of course.
it's the little things, you know?

Fall Fun!

We could not have asked for better fall weather this weekend.  70 degrees.  Sunny.  We just wanted to be outside the entire time.   We went for runs and decided we needed to spend even more time appreciating the fall foliage, which apparently will peak in two weeks.  So two more weeks to enjoy!  We checked out a new to us restaurant.   Then we took a trip to Grant's Farm, which neither one of us had been to since we were kids.  And neither one of us remembered.  Capping off another day spent outside. Monday I hopped on my bike to get to work and my body felt tired from the fun of the weekend.  I looked out my window at my desk and saw so many beautiful leaves, I took a photo on the walk back to where I park my bike. P.S. Yes, I got a new job!  Hooray!  A more detailed update is coming.

26 miles in 26 days

So the title isn`t exactly correct, but I ran a marathon yesterday and it was Melissa & my`s one month being here. But Caro helped me come up with the title and I thought it was catchy. So marathon #2 and a completely different experience than the one I ran last year in Chicago. Lisa Rottler Chamberlin is the name I ran the race with...I tried to sign up as Lisa Rottler, but it forced me to enter mom`s maiden name or i couldn`t continue with registration. the first difference I experienced this marathon in a very different way. In Chicago I was competitive I would say. It was on my mind since February of last year when I signed up. I was didigent about training and very serious about it. This year I signed up like 3 weeks ago and it was very last minute. Although, I ran like I was training for the marathon this summer in Chicago-that was 2 months ago. Last year the weekend of the marathon I rested. This year Friday night I went to my first quinceanera and got home at 4 a...

Lake Recap

Yep, it's recap time from the week my family and I spent at the Lake . My parents rented a house and a boat for our family for the week.  We were around mile 24 for those of you who've been there before. Dad, Mom, Jeff, Greta & Charlie all slept in the guest house so that meant... Karen & I had the whole main house to ourselves.  ;)  (If only we didn't disagree on the temperature so much. I like it warmer than her).   That might be a bit of an exaggeration.  We had the whole place to ourselves, unless someone wanted food, hang out in the living room, do laundry, etc. We pretty much relaxed the whole time we were there.   We were out on the boat at least once a day. Karen & I are ready for a day on the boat! We got in some tubing and skiing.  (No pictures exist of tubing, but it happened.  My scabs from the cloth burn just came off at the end of last week.  And just ask Karen.  She was sore.  We all were.) ...
