Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!  And a very special Happy Father's Day to my Dad!!

As I thought about what to write in this post, I wrote about 3 different posts.  But I choose one in honor of being an adult and being decisive.

I still remember growing up washing dishes with Dad.  I didn't understand why we had to rinse off the soap after we washed it.  I mean the dirty food was off the plate.  He didn't pause for a second and said, "Well, we have to wash off the soap.  How would you like the next time you ate off this plate for it to taste like soap?"  Bam.  It totally made sense.

Dad always has a way to break things down so I never feel stupid with my questions and he always keeps me learning.  It's sort-of become a joke with Rubina that anytime I mention an article I've read, it's understood my dad sent it to me.  He keeps me up on the world's happenings by mostly sending me articles he knows I'll find interesting and every once in awhile throwing in one that I should be interested in.
Happy Father's Day, Dado!
See you Friday!!!

museum field trip

i've been doing really well on my field trip resolution . yesterday i hit up another one:  the chicago history museum .  it turns out it was a free day there, even though i was going to get in free anyway.  that means it was busy! which is fine, i still got to take a gander around.   I've never been to the history museum before so that in itself was exciting. probably my favorite part was when they talked about the world's fair in chicago (i can't remember the exact name).  the buildings were so much grander than i imagined them in my mind while i read, devil in the white city a couple months ago.  it was fun to see what it was really like.  and wow! there was also an awesome exhibit about workers rights and such. so it was a fun little excursion.

26 miles in 26 days

So the title isn`t exactly correct, but I ran a marathon yesterday and it was Melissa & my`s one month being here. But Caro helped me come up with the title and I thought it was catchy. So marathon #2 and a completely different experience than the one I ran last year in Chicago. Lisa Rottler Chamberlin is the name I ran the race with...I tried to sign up as Lisa Rottler, but it forced me to enter mom`s maiden name or i couldn`t continue with registration. the first difference I experienced this marathon in a very different way. In Chicago I was competitive I would say. It was on my mind since February of last year when I signed up. I was didigent about training and very serious about it. This year I signed up like 3 weeks ago and it was very last minute. Although, I ran like I was training for the marathon this summer in Chicago-that was 2 months ago. Last year the weekend of the marathon I rested. This year Friday night I went to my first quinceanera and got home at 4 a...
