Labor Day recap

It's time for a little weekend recap!  I hope you had a lovely long weekend!!!

I went back to Missouri for the weekend for some family time and a very special lady's baptism (my niece).

Here's a little glimpse, if you'd like to see:

*The playground is fun when you're with a 2 year old ;)

*Family photos, on the other hand, can be a bit challenging

yep, that's charlie on the trampoline

*I completely peaced out from technology.  My phone sat in my room all weekend.
It was lovely.

*My sister-in-law's family and my grandma came over for a BBQ Saturday night.  At said BBQ, Charlie had some homemade ice cream and a bit of cupcake and he started running around our table (we were in the patio area outside).  He ran around that table taking brief stops to be tickled for approximately a half hour.
I am not exaggerating.  It was amazing.  I laughed so hard.

He stopped when he had to go potty.  And this story is pretty awesome too.
Jeff:  Charlie, let me know when you need to go potty.  If you don't, you're going straight to the bath and you won't be able to play anymore tonight.  Ok?
Charlie:  Yeah.
Charlie continues running, Jeff begins to doze off (being a parent is hard work).
Charlie:  Daddy.
Jeff:  jerks awake Do you have to go potty?
Jeff jumps up, grabs Charlie, and runs inside to the bathroom.

*Charlie was my yoga buddy Sunday morning.  He killed happy baby pose (much better than me!).  :)

*Callie had her baptism :)  She was so good!  She only giggled when the priest poured the water over her head and didn't make another sound.

*Jeffrey did complete the ice bucket challenge, a video does exist, but Jeff isn't willing to share it.
I got to dump the bucket.  :)

*I ran a lot of hills.
Apparently my IT band loves hills...
One run, I was on one of the highways, which was having a major yard sale and they put up a traffic sign (you know one with lights) that said, "Use Caution.  Next 20 miles.  Heavy Traffic."  Haha.

Aaaannnndddd...the Cardinals took first for the first time this season!!!!!

I love four day weeks and I am so excited for this weekend!!!  Friday consists of a half day work/half day retreat and then it's time to head to St. Louis for LOUFEST!!!  One of my very favorite weekends all year :)

With that said...if you are in Chicago this weekend...go to Renegade!  I only wish they were on different weekends, but they're always on the same weekend.  le sigh

Spring!

Yes, I know it is not spring yet.   Today's the meteorological beginning of spring or something, isn't it? I definitely suffered some winter blues last month (yeah, it's March!). Check out these tulip fields for your Friday! Normann Szkop  took awesome photos while flying over Dutch  tulip fields . ( via ) p.s. Two days later I'm still feeling amazing after my juice cleanse .  Yes, it's possible that's not what it's from, but considering nothing else has really changed (except starting a new month, which I am so excited about), it's getting the credit. HAPPY FRIDAY & HAPPY MARCH!

Skyline Views

I finished reading My Heart is an Idiot a couple weeks ago.  The author lived in Chicago for a bit and had several essays in the book where he mentioned Chicago. In one essay he mentioned the skyline view from Augusta & Wood.  I was curious so I decided to go for a bike ride and check out this "amazing" view of the skyline. This was it, people.   Hmmm.... I think I had a better view on the Damen bridge just north of Fullerton on my way there.  I am a sucker for the unexpected skyline views around the city (like on Damen).  I'll also throw in the view from Chicago and Halsted.  Also the orange line between Western and 35th/Archer is pretty amazing.  Do you have any places you love to take in the unexpected view? I'm not talking the Adler... I consider that expected.
I have a few things to update on today =) Oh I just finished the best meal I've had since I arrived and it was oh sooooo good! I'm so full and happy right now! It was a mexican meal so at least i know i'm going to the right country. yesterday Tere asked me to lead a little yoga class. automatically i said yes because that's how i am, but on the walk from the classroom to outside i started to get nervous. the only person i ever lead in yoga was karen & she laughed the majority of the time (it doesn't really count). i just took deep breaths and i did it. it actually was great. once we started i was able to integrate some favorite posses of the people in the class it was great towards the end when marcelle (who is rather soft spoken, but i love her) lead a few poses as well. i was actually happy with myself. namaste i love our group. everyone is similar that we all have this interest to do missionary work, but we are all very unique and different at the s
